Mission Committee

Our Mission Committee here at Faith is divided into two sub-groups, Global and Local, so that we can better focus our efforts to share the love of Christ.

Global Missions

2020 will be a big year for Faith Church Global Missions. When you are responsible for one of the largest line items in the church’s budget, you take that very seriously and prayerfully.

Between missions that receive annual support and this year’s Sunday School offering recipients, Global Missions supports 17 missions works. Each of these works has an advocate on the Global Missions Committee.  We are charged to pray daily for these missions, as well as, represent their concerns to Faith Church. Along with Local Missions, we list monthly Missions Moments in the bulletin with focus missionaries for whom we are asking your prayers.

We also have a major activity for 2020, the largest we have ever pursued. We will sponsor Transformada 2020 in Cali, Colombia. The topic is biblical sexuality and will feature a number of speakers. Now that may sound similar to our previous conference sponsorships, but this year we will be doing parallel women’s and men’s conferences. Our goal is to have at least 300 women and 100 men. We will be funding this with Faith Church’s core donation, conference registration fees, and other donations. Please pray for  the team that is planning and executing this event.

We will also be supporting individuals in the church who are going on short-term missions trips. We have already been approached by two of our young people who want to go on short term tripsl. Please pray for these young people and their teams.

Christ commanded us to do many things, such as loving our brothers and sisters, our neighbors, and even our enemies. I conflate that with the Great Commission, because what greater love can we show to other people than to share the Gospel with them and help them to grow in their faith? Please be in prayer for all of these things.

Local Mission

The Local Missions Committee of Faith Church exists to encourage our body to pray for, participate in, and provide financial support to ministries in our community that proclaim the gospel of Christ. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (I Corinthians 15:58B).

Locally, our church assists with the Frederick Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, CareNet, and other agencies.  We try to be responsive to needs that become known outside of our congregation to share the love of Christ.
