Week 12, 2021

Order of Worship

Sunday, March 21, 2021

We extend a warm welcome to all our visitors this morning! Visitors, please complete the Welcome card in the pew rack and put it in the offering plate, so we may know how best to minister to/with you. Let’s prepare our hearts with silent Bible reading, meditation, and prayer before the service begins.

PRAISE (We Acknowledge God’s Majesty)

PRELUDE               The Hand of God                        Praise Team

*HYMN 55                 To God Be The Glory!

*CALL TO WORSHIP                                         Psalm 147: 7-11

Leader: Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre!

All: He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills.

Leader: He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry.

All: His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.

*PRAISE SONGS             All My Ways Are Known To You

                                             I Will Wait For You

All: Almighty God, we believe that you are coming again in power to judge the earth. But we confess that we have not lived as those who daily expect your kingdom.  We have spoken harsh words, thought impure thoughts, and lived casual lives. We have ignored your promised judgment by not loving you with our whole hearts or our neighbors as ourselves.  Have mercy on us and forgive us for all our offenses. In your tender kindness, embrace us with your fatherly love, and fill our hearts with the joyful expectation of seeing you soon face to face. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON                         Colossians 1:13-14

“If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.”

CONSECRATION (We Surrender Our Lives to Christ)

*HYMN 44                       How Great Thou Art!

THE OFFERING                                                      Psalm 139:1-3

“O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.”

OFFERTORY                                                            Faith Choir

* Doxology: Hymnal, p. 732

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host, praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Amen

For 2021, we are continuing to provide a basic Family Worship plan to help enable our families to more regularly worship together during the week. In each weekly bulletin, we will provide a Daily Bible Reading plan from “A Daughter of the Reformation”, weekly questions from the Heidelberg Catechism, and a hymn for you to learn together.

Week 12:

Weekly Hymn:   246 Man of Sorrows, What A Name

Heidelberg Catechism–

  • Q19 From where do you know this? /

Answer: From the holy gospel, which God himself first revealed in Paradise. Later, he had it proclaimed by the patriarchs and prophets, and foreshadowed by the sacrifices and other ceremonies of the law. Finally, he had it fulfilled through his only Son.

  • Q20 Are all men, then, saved by Christ just as they perished through Adam? /

Answer: No. Only those are saved who by a true faith are grafted into Christ and accept all his benefits.

Mon – 3/22 – Numbers 17-20

Tue – 3/23 – Numbers 21-24

Hearing assistance and large print pew Bibles are available during the worship service.  Please contact an usher for assistance.

Good Friday Service – We will be gathering as a congregation for a time of worship and reflection Friday, April 2nd at 7:00PM.  This will be a service of Jesus’ Last Sayings from the Cross.

“Moms of Littles” Small Group – This Bible study/fellowship group is geared towards mothers of young children (babies up to high school) who desire to keep scripture at the heart of these busy years.  Together we will study manageable portions of scripture on a weekly basis, and pray for and encourage one another in our walks with Christ.  Based on interest, we hope to form two groups: one will meet each Tuesday from 9:00-11:00AM at the Veldhuizen home and the other will meet each Thursday from 7:00-9:00PM at the Newman home, with a virtual option (Zoom) available at each of these times also.  We will begin with a 10 week study of Proverbs using the She Reads Truth: Proverbs book as our discussion guide.

Our first meeting will be an introduction/fellowship event at the Veldhuizens’ on Thursday, March 25 from 7:00-9:00, outdoors if weather permits.

The 10 week study will begin the week of April 6th (Tuesday) and 8th (Thursday), and end the week of June 8th/10th.

You are welcome to contact Arliss Veldhuizen or Anna Newman with any questions!
