Order of Worship
Sunday, June 21, 2020
We extend a warm welcome to all our visitors this morning! Visitors, please complete the Welcome card in the pew rack and put it in the offering plate, so we may know how best to minister to/with you. Let’s prepare our hearts with silent Bible reading, meditation, and prayer before the service begins.
PRAISE (We Acknowledge God’s Majesty)
*HYMN 164 O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing!
*CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 29:1-4, 9, 11
Leader: Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
All: Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.
Leader: The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters.
All: The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
Leader: The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
All: May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!
*PRAISE SONGS Magnificent, Marvelous, Matchless Love
How Deep The Father’s Love For Us
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Leader: Holy Lord, we are guilty—of pride and unbelief, of failure to find your mind in your Word, of neglect to seek you in our daily lives.
All: Our violations and shortcomings present our consciences with a long list of accusations, but they shall not stand! For we lay them all now on Christ, our sacrifice and advocate.
Leader: Lord, subdue our weaknesses and selfishness, granting us grace to live above them. Let us not be mastered by them, but have you rule over us in liberty and power.
All: We praise and thank you for your wisdom and love, for sometimes putting us into the furnace to refine our gold and remove our dross. Deliver us from every evil habit, everything that dims the brightness of your grace in us, everything that prevents us from taking our deepest delight in you.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON Hebrews 9:27-28
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
CONSECRATION (We Surrender Our Lives to Christ)
*PSALM 27 (tune: Rejoice the Lord is King)
THE OFFERING Proverbs 11:24
“One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.”
Doxology: Hymnal, p. 731
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise Him,
all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

For 2020, we are continuing to provide a basic Family Worship plan to help enable our families more regularly worship together during the week. In each weekly bulletin, we will provide a Daily Bible Reading plan from “M’Cheyne Daily Bible Reading Plan”, weekly questions from the Westminster Shorter Catechism, and a hymn for you to learn together.
Weekly Hymn: 473 Jesus Sinners Doth Recieve
- Q49 Which is the second commandment? /
Answer: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
- Q50 What is required in the second commandment? /
Answer: The second commandment requires the receiving, observing, and keeping pure and entire, all such religious worship and ordinances as God hath appointed in his Word.

Women’s Bible Study: All women in the church are invited to participate in our Women’s Bible study on Contentment. In Contentment, Melissa Kruger considers what it really means to be content: to place our trust in our good and sovereign God. We will utilize Zoom video conferencing to conduct the study. An email will be sent in advance of each study with weblink and logon information. Our next study is on Saturday, June 27th at 9:00 am and will continue to meet every two weeks through July 25th. There is a study guide Contentment, by Melissa Kruger available for free download or purchase on line at Ligonier Ministries https://www.ligonier.org/store/contentment-dvd/
If you have any questions, please contact Christine Stalnaker (CStalnaker786@cs.com)
Women in the Church – All women are invited to participate in our Summer Book Club. We will be reading the book “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Faith” by Joni Eareckson Tada. (You can order the book on Amazon.) We will be meeting the 2nd Monday of each month (July 13th and August 10th) most likely, via Zoom. If you have any questions, please email Christine Stalnaker (CStalnaker786@cs.com)
Faith Church Retreat: In the Lord’s providence, it appears that we need to cancel the retreat for this year. We found out this week we would have to share the retreat center with several other groups which would restrict our ability to spread out and have the room and facilities we need. There were several other factors driving our decision, but suffice it to say we think it best to go ahead and wait until next year. Lord willing, the 2021 Retreat will be a blessed time for us to be together.
Faith Church Officer Elections: The Session has examined Reid Wilson for the office of elder. We will hold elections at a Congregational meeting on Sunday, June 28th. If we have more people than we can safely seat in the Sanctuary, there will be overflow seating in the Fellowship Hall with livestream. All members present will have the opportunity to cast a ballot.
Picnic After Church: For those who are comfortable staying, you may bring a picnic lunch to the pavilion area and stay after the Congregational Meeting on Sunday, June 28th for a meal together. We will have the grill fired up so if you would like to cook something there will be the option to bring your own meat. Appropriate social distancing will still be observed. We will cancel if there is rain, because we will have to remain outside.
