We extend a warm welcome to all our visitors this morning! Visitors, please complete the Welcome card in the pew rack and put it in the offering plate, so we may know how best to minister to/with you. Let’s prepare our hearts with silent Bible reading, meditation, and prayer before the service begins.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

All: Our Lord, Your love is steadfast and true, yet we have neither relied upon it, nor practiced it.  We seek to love in our own strength, instead of Yours.  When confronted with our failures, we redefine the call to love in convenient terms.  Our daily lives betray a small view of Your love—doubting its depth and zeal—evidenced by despair and complaint.  Lord, forgive our unbelief.  We are envious of others—the blessings of our friends, siblings and co-workers.  We covet their talents, status, and beauty.  We resent our station in life—the measure which You have given to us.  Although You promise to exalt the humble, our envy reveals resistance to living by grace alone.  It has not been for Your glory that we long.  O Lord, show us mercy.  Amen.

THE OFFERING                                            Galatians 5:16-17

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.  For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”
