Order of Worship

Sunday, September 20, 2020

We extend a warm welcome to all our visitors this morning! Visitors, please complete the Welcome card in the pew rack and put it in the offering plate, so we may know how best to minister to/with you. Let’s prepare our hearts with silent Bible reading, meditation, and prayer before the service begins.

PRAISE (We Acknowledge God’s Majesty)

*HYMN 295      Crown Him With Many Crowns!

*CALL TO WORSHIP                                      Psalm 67

Leader: May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us,
All: that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.
Leader: Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! All: Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth.

Leader: Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!

All: The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us.  God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!

*PRAISE SONGS                      Living Hope

                                                      Psalm 29

All: O Lord, no day of our lives passes that does not prove us guilty in your sight.  Our best services are filthy rags.  All things in us call for our rejection.  However, all things in Christ plead our acceptance.  Grant us to hear your voice assuring us that by your stripes we are healed, that you were bruised for our iniquities, that you became sin for us that we might become righteous in you.  Grant that by resting in your righteousness we may hereafter walk in newness of life and run hard after your commandments. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON                         1 John 1:7

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Women in the Church – All women in the church are invited to participate in an upcoming new Women’s Bible study on the book of I Peter – A Living Hope in Christ by Jen Wilkin.     Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In 1 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance. He shares his concerns on big picture issues for the early church, describes believers’ true identity in Christ, and ultimately helps readers discover what it means to experience the Living Hope they have in Christ.  We will utilize Zoom video conferencing to conduct the study.  Our first study will be Saturday, October 3rd at 9:00 am and will continue to meet on the following dates October 3,17,31, November 7 and 21, December 5th, January 16 and 30th.

The study book is available on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/PeterLivingChristGospelCoalition/dp/143005154X/ref=sr_1_1crid=10EP6WUOWNAPW&dchild=1&keywords=i+peter+jen+wilkin&qid=1597771978&sprefix=I+Peter%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-1 )

You are Invited! Small Groups for Fall – Our small groups will each be studying “The Small Group and the Vine: Foundational Training for Group Leaders.” You don’t have to be a small group leader to get a lot out of this great study. Learning what makes a good study will help make you a better student. These studies will begin in mid-September, meeting bi-weekly, and they will be done before Thanksgiving. We will be offering both in-person and online options as much as possible. The Armstrong group will begin 9/17 (Thursdays at 7:00 at the Armstrong’s). The Rochford group will begin 9/16 (Wednesdays at 7:00 at the Rochford’s). The Hauver group will begin 9/25 (Fridays at 7:00 in the Fellowship Hall). There will be no childcare provided.  Sign up in the narthex or you can sign up by sending an email to Brittney (bwilson@faithreformed.org) or via Slack on the Small Groups channel.

Thursday Night Prayer – Our Thursday night prayer will begin meeting every other Thursday.  We will skip the 17th because of the Small Group schedule and begin meeting every other Thursday beginning September 24th.
