Order of Worship

Sunday, November 1, 2020

We extend a warm welcome to all our visitors this morning! Visitors, please complete the Welcome card in the pew rack and put it in the offering plate, so we may know how best to minister to/with you. Let’s prepare our hearts with silent Bible reading, meditation, and prayer before the service begins.

PRAISE (We Acknowledge God’s Majesty)

*HYMN 345       Glorious Things Of Thee Are Spoken

*Call To Worship                                               Psalm 95:1-7

Leader: Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

All: Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

Leader: For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.  In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.  The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

All: Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!  For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

COMMUNION (God Confirms His Promises to Us)

All: Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.  We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us.  But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us.  And grant, O most merciful Father, for Jesus’ sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous and joyful life, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

*HYMN 472         Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Wretched

*Congregation standing if able

For 2020, we are continuing to provide a basic Family Worship plan to help enable our families more regularly worship together during the week. In each weekly bulletin, we will provide a Daily Bible Reading plan from “M’Cheyne Daily Bible Reading Plan”, weekly questions from the Westminster Shorter Catechism, and a hymn for you to learn together.

Week 44:

Shorter Catechism–

  • Q87 What is repentance unto life? /
Answer: Repentance unto life is a saving grace whereby a sinner, out of a true sense of his sin, and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ, doth, with grief and hatred of his sin, turn from it unto God, with full purpose of, and endeavor after, new obedience.

  • Q88 What are the outward and ordinary means whereby Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption? /

Answer: The outward and ordinary means whereby Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption are, his ordinances, especially the Word, sacraments, and prayer; all which are made effectual to the elect for salvation.
